Hi, I’m Kaitlin
Welcome to Exquisitely Average! I’m a life-long Chicago girl currently spending my days as a pediatric occupational therapist and nights hanging out with my cat (and, uh, husband). I live in your average big city (I mean, it’s the best city, but still) where I make an average income and am in your average husband/wife relationship. I shop in your average stores, wear your average dress size, and experience your average insecurities. I like to spend my free time exploring the city, browsing my favorite stores, and going to my barre class.
Nothing is really that different, and, yet, it’s a pretty great life. And who do I want to connect with? Women just like me! Women who work jobs, go home to families, and experience all the same day-to-day BS but have an interest in making their lives bigger, better, and more beautiful.
To me, “average” isn’t a bad or unappealing word, but, you know, you’ve gotta make it sound a little snappier. So here it is! I hope that Exquisitely Average can be a place where you find things you want to wear, places you want to go, and activities you want to do. However, I also want it to be a place where you can feel good about your “average” body, your home that isn’t quite ready to be on the cover of a Pottery Barn catalogue, and even your boring Saturday night watching 5 consecutive hours of “The Golden State Killer: It Isn’t Over.” (Oh, that was just me?)
Mainly, I want it to be a place where you don’t feel like a failure just because you don’t own a home or you didn’t make it to your workout classes this week. Our world is so jam-packed with all these things you could be doing that you feel like a failure if you didn’t do it all. Well, guess what, it’s okay to just be average and not superhuman sometimes. It just helps to add some fresh flowers or a swipe of lipgloss to make it feel like you’ve got it all together.
Still trying to decide if we have anything in common? Here’s a list of all my current loves in no particular order: stripes, donuts, cats, Pure Barre, salted caramel mochas, Target, MFM, peanut butter, Rifle Paper Co, not the color orange, and Parks and Rec.
Any of these strike your fancy? Reach out and say hi!
