If you read any post from any blogger in the midwest or east coast this week, chances are you’re going to hear complaints about the weather. We just want it to be warm, okay?! We’ve been wearing coats and hats and scarves and gloves for 5 full months now, and we just need a small sign that warmth still exists. We know we’ve been complaining and you’re sick of hearing about it, and we will apologize as soon as weather gets above 60 degrees (okay, 70).
For now, I’m doing my best to wear my favorite spring styles while maintaining an appropriate body temperature. One major plus? I stalked J. Crew’s website until I found this coat on major sale, and it has provided some desperately needed brightness on these dreary days. As much as none of us want to be buying coats and boots right now, it’s really the best time to buy- especially if you know you want a staple item like J. Crew’s cocoon coat or Sperry boots. These styles don’t change much year-to-year, and I legitimately got this coat for 80% off the original price. I find that J. Crew items get restocked a lot (probably from returns) so I just check back periodically, and sometimes you get lucky! My favorite tip (which I recently shared on Instagram) is to keep an online shopping cart with all the items you’re eyeing and check back periodically. I find this strategy works best at stores like Nordstrom and Anthropologie who don’t have those big “40% off everything” sales.
Speaking of Anthropologie, this lace top was a recent find during Anthropologie’s 20% off everything sale (aka the only time I can afford to shop at Anthropologie). The details are so pretty, and it’s such a simple way to dress up a basic outfit. At heart, I’m still a jeans and t-shirt girl so I appreciate finding easy ways to dress that up.
So, for now, this is my best spring outfit! I wish I could say it was going to change soon, but I’m starting to think we’re just going to skip spring and jump right into summer. Which, at this point, I’m totally okay with.
