Voting Registration- It’s coming, people. We have a little more than 2 weeks to go until Election Day so the time to register is now! I know that online voting registration in Illinois closes tomorrow, and here’s a handy list of deadlines state-by-state. My dad recently told me a statistic that 60% of millenials aren’t registered to vote. I hope that’s wrong, and some very cursory Googling leads me to believe the number is much higher. However, that doesn’t mean anything if you don’t actually show up. I know mid-term elections can seem boring (although maybe not this time given everything that’s been going on), but they’re pivotal in determining the course of our country.
Anthro Day- Everything at Anthropologie is 25% off this weekend! I currently own and love this sweater jacket, this thermal tee, and this fringe scarf. I may have already ordered this sweater, and I’m obsessed with this coat, It’s also the perfect time to stock up on their fall and holiday candles.
Meghan Markle- There’s another royal baby on the way! While Kate is my idol and muse, I’ve gotta say I’m just so excited for Harry and Meghan. I’m impressed the press hasn’t brought up Meghan’s age as often as I’d expect, but, as someone in their early 30s, I definitely think about the fact I’ll be an “older” mom. It’s not uncommon living in a big city like Chicago, but I still sometimes feel the stigma of choosing not to have kids right away. So thanks, Meghan, for normalizing it a bit for all of us!
Health Insurance- This one is just a more personal thought for the week, but we had to renew our benefits through work this week, and it just made me so grateful that I have them. I worked at an amazing clinic before this one, but we were just too small for our employer to afford employee healthcare. Denny and I paid out-of-pocket for a long time, and it was about $750/mo even with the ACA. I know not every job is perfect but feel grateful if you do have employee healthcare. It makes a big difference.
