As promised, I wanted to give an update on the Glossier products I’ve been using since visiting their Chicago pop up a few weeks ago. I’ve been mildly obsessed with Glossier’s Boy Brow for a few years now, but I hadn’t explored any of their skincare products. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve been more willing to invest in good products, and I’m much more passionate about skincare than makeup. With Glossier being an online-only retailer, I was hesitant to try any products in case they didn’t work out. Glossier has a good return policy, but there was something about visiting a brick-and-mortar store that made it much easier. I ended up buying a toner, serum multi-pack, and two face masks. Here’s what I’m noticing so far-
Exfoliating Skin Perfector– I went into the pop up with no plans to buy a toner, but this one was getting rave reviews- not to mention it was sold out everywhere. That has to be a good endorsement, right? So far, the biggest thing I’ve noticed is how smooth my skin feels. I already use Philosophy’s Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash which does a great job getting rid of makeup, dead skin, etc, but this product seems to take it one step further. I mean, the proof is on the cotton pad after I’ve swiped my face, and I’d definitely prefer to have it there than in my pores.
Super Bounce Serum– One thing I really liked about Glossier’s pop up is how knowledgeable and honest the staff was. I knew I wanted the “Super Pack” (aka all 3 serums for $65) when I went in, but the girl helping me said, if she had to pick one, she’d pick this one. It really just brings your skin to life by giving it the hydration and elasticity it needs. I’ve been having some long days at work, and I feel like this really makes my skin look refreshed when I wake up in the morning. I actually mix 2 drops of this with 2 drops of the Super Pure serum one night, and the next night I mix 2 drops of this with 2 drops of the Super Glow serum. I pretty much alternate night to night unless there’s a noticeable issue going on. I’m definitely curious to see how this performs during the cold, dry winter months.
Super Pure Serum– This one primarily helps with redness which is one of my minor skin complaints. I notice redness around my nose, chin, and forehead, and I think this has calmed it down a bit.
Super Glow Serum– I’m obsessed with Vitamin C serums because my #1 skin goal is brightness. I’ve previously used the M-61 Vita-C Serum, but, at nearly $100, it isn’t something I wanted to keep re-purchasing. So far I’m happy with this one! I think my skin looks glowy and bright so I’m hoping it keeps going that way.
Mega Greens Galaxy Pack Mask– This was my first foray into face masks so it’s impossible for me to compare it to any other clay masks. I’d say my skin is pretty average so, luckily, I didn’t experience any burning or peeling like I read in some reviews. I like how my skin feels soft after this mask vs tight or dry. I also feel like my t-zone has been getting less oily during the day since I’ve been using it.
Moisturizing Moon Mask– I’m definitely loving this mask thanks to the obvious hydration that occurs while you’re wearing it. I put it on immediately after rinsing off the mega greens mask just to get that double-whammy of product. (FYI- You can get both masks for $40.) I’ve read that some people sleep in this one, but I know it would drive me nuts so I limit my wearing to 20 minutes. I’ll be honest that the first time I used it I wasn’t thrilled. My face still felt like I had some build up on it even after I washed it off, and I hate that feeling. However, when I woke up the next day, it felt glorious! It looked pretty good, too. I also used it on a scratch I got at work, and the redness was almost gone the next day!
Final Impression- I don’t think any product(s) can completely change your skin overnight, especially products that are designed to prevent further damage. However, I started all of these products at once, and my skin has remained happy and calm. I’ve actually been wearing less makeup foundation because I the evenness and brightness of my skin has improved. It can obviously be pricey to buy a lot of products all at once so, if I absolutely had to pick 2 to start right now, I’d pick the Exfoliating Skin Perfector and the Super Bounce serum. You can use both daily, and they seem to work well together. I’ll be curious to see how these products hold up in the dead of Chicago winters, but I’m pretty optimistic based on what I’ve seen so far!
