I’m a firm believer that denim can easily go from day to night. I honestly only own one pair of pants that aren’t denim, and I rarely (if ever) find myself struggling to dress up an outfit. I think black denim can be the easiest option when dressing up your look but any wash can work. Below I styled two different outfits using the same denim and sweater while mixing up the accessories.
For the “night” portion of a day to night look, I’m all about adding a chic coat and over-the-knee boots. It’s a simple outfit, but both of those pieces really stand out to create a cohesive style. You could also add statement earrings and a bold lip to take it up a notch. I would feel comfortable walking into any nice restaurant or happy hour in this outfit without worrying about being under-dressed. I shared more about this J. Crew coat in a previous post, but it’s the perfect dressy topcoat for your cold weather style needs. I bought these Stuart Weitzman dupes at Target last year, and I’m still obsessed. The quality is great, and they’ve held up well!
Creating the “day” portion of a day t0 night look with denim is kind of a no-brainer, but I decided to make it even more cozy and casual with this knit hat. I know it seems too early to be thinking about winter hats, but now is the time to snag the good ones! I don’t shop at Urban Outfitters very often, but I have to admit they have some great cold weather accessories. I’ve already talked at length about my favorite boots, and here’s another prime example of how they keep a casual outfit looking put together. This is the kind of outfit you’ll see me living in all winter.
Are you a believer in dressed-up denim? Or do you tend to stick with other styles when dressing up?
