I have a deep, intense love of turtlenecks. I can’t explain where it comes from, but I have an oddly romantic notion of walking around a ski lodge in the 80s wearing my most bomb Benetton turtleneck and just living. (It does not need to be mentioned that I hate skiing, the cold, and most 80s fashion trends.) Anytime I see a post where someone is wearing an amazing turtleneck I have to click through, and then I have to admit to myself that it is probably not the best item for my body.
Again, I feel the need to say in every post I write about finding the “most flattering” or “best” items for my (or any) body type that you should wear whatever the hell makes you feel good. Personally, I just hate stuff that clings to and shows off my chest, and I usually wear looser fitting items for that reason. We could probably go on a deep dive here about how society makes women feel ashamed of their bodies, sexuality, etc., but, honestly, I just want to write about my new favorite turtleneck. (There will be plenty of time for the deeper dives as this blog continues.)
I tried this sweater on a whim over the weekend, and I fell deeply, madly in love. It’s a thick, cozy knit, but it doesn’t feel bulky or itchy. The rollneck feature gives the same impression of a turtleneck without being constricting or bulky, and the length is longer so it balances everything out. It comes in a ton of other colors, and I think I want it in every single one.
PS- Am I Blair Waldorf with this headband yet?
