Welcome to the Exquisitely Average Holiday Guide! There are two types of people in this world- those who are excited to see this post and those who are furious. Yeah, it’s only November 1st, but I am here for the start of the holiday season. (Fact: My mom will be in the furious category. Growing up, we weren’t allowed to acknowledge Christmas until after her November 26th birthday.) It’s no secret that the holidays are a crucial time for bloggers, but I personally love getting a jump on the holiday season, too!
In the next few weeks, you can expect to see a whole range of topics, including holiday gift guides, my favorite Chicago holiday activities, and ways to do some good this holiday season. I’ll obviously be paying close attention to all the Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday sales as well! Because why pay extra for the stuff you need to buy anyway?
I’ll be the first to admit that the days getting shorter and the weather getting colder slowly kills my insides. However, the holiday season in Chicago (almost) makes up for all of that. It’s a truly magical time in the city, and I find myself getting excited just thinking about it. I think the holidays also provide an opportunity to slow down and appreciate time with friends and family, and that just doesn’t happen enough.
Like I mentioned above, I know some people aren’t quite ready to embrace the holidays just yet, but hear me out. Is there anything more stressful than waiting until the last minute and having to buy the mediocre gift, make the un-tested recipe, or wear something “meh” to the holiday party? All of those things stress me out like crazy, and it doesn’t have to be that way! I hope you’ll consider Exquisitely Average one of your holiday resources and stop in throughout the next few weeks for holiday content. I’ve also created a new “Holiday” category at the top so you can find everything in one place. As always, feel free to reach out via blog comment, email, DM- whatever!- to let me know what else you’d love to see!
